Occupy Helsinki camp evicted
The Occupy Helsinki camp that was located on the “Citizens Square” in central Helsinki was evicted by the police on Thursday morning after the city of Helsinki had declared the camp in breach of local ordinances that prohibit unauthorised camping in public places.
There were only two occupiers in the camp at the time, so the eviction proceeded without clashes. No arrests were made.
The camp had been up since October 20, 2011. There will be a general assembly at the same location next Sunday at 16:00 to decide how the occupation continues.
