#AfricansRising in Togo

The current and, volatile situation in Togo is a clear manifestation of the gap between the aspirations (as set up in laws and other treaties) and the reality of the day-to-day lives of the Togolese people, as they demand accountability from their government. Since August this year, the people and peoples formations in Togo have taken to the streets and called on their government to, reinstate the 1992 constitution, imposing presidential term limits, thus preventing President Faure Gnassing who has been already served two terms to from following his father’s lead and becoming a life-long dictator.
